A KiwiRail yard in Riccarton evacuated on Saturday morning due to a risk of explosion, after shipping containers were found dangling precariously over a stack of LPG cylinders.
Five fire crews are anxiously monitored the containers. A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson told Newshub they were called to the scene at 8:31am on Saturday.
FENZ left the scene about 12pm, saying both containers had been secured.
Nearby Matipo St was also evacuated, police cordoning off the surrounding area as emergency services awaited the arrival of cranes.
