Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man who was stabbed in the Whakatāne valley of Waiōhau.
A police statement said officers were called to the incident at about 2am on Sunday.
"Police are following lines of enquiry and want anyone to come forward who may have witnessed the incident."
