Man who died after Wellington assault named as Simon Strickland

The man who died after being assaulted outside Wellington's Te Papa has been named by police.

Simon Strickland, 58, died on Wednesday four days after he was beaten by a 28-year-old man outside the museum.

Police have charged the man with wounding with intent to injure in relation to the assault and are not looking for anyone else.

Police are interested in talking to anyone who saw the assault, or was in the Te Papa carpark area on Saturday 13 February between 7 and 7.30pm.
