Police are asking the public for information regarding a shooting in Auckland's Northcote on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to Cadness Reserve at around 7pm Friday following reports of gunshots. A 16-year-old male was shot and suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to North Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being transferred to Auckland Hospital.

Police say he remains in a stable condition.

A cordon was set up at the College Rd and Cadness St intersection, with an armed police officer on guard.

"A scene examination was conducted this morning and cordons have now been stood down," a police spokesperson said on Saturday.

"Initial enquiries indicate a large number of youths were at the reserve earlier in the evening."

Police are seeking any photos or videos taken at Cadness Reserve or the surrounding area. They would like to speak to those people as well as anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Information can be provided to Police by calling 105, quoting job number P045638720.
