Police seek help to identify body found in Waikato River

Police are asking for help from the public to identify a man whose body was found in Waikato River, Hamilton last week.

The man was recovered from the river between Cobham and Victoria Bridges.

Police said inquiries, including checking current missing person files, had come up with nothing.

The man was about 181cm tall and weighed 65kg.

He was wearing a black Obey tee-shirt with a cigarette packet on the front, a red-checkered Rivet Workwear hooded jacket, grey pants and black leather Blundstone work boots.

Police said they were aware this may be upsetting for friends and family of the man, and there were support services available for anyone who may wish to use them.

If anyone has any information which may assist police in identifying this man, they are asked to call 105 and quote file 210127/5463.
