Dramatic drop in flu statistics credited to COVID-19 border closures - medical expert

Closing the borders in 2020 kept out more than just COVID-19 - data shows not a single New Zealander died of influenza in 2020.

It's a drastic drop from the usual figure of around 400 people annually. 

Dr Bryan Betty, medical director of the College of GPs, told The AM Show the most impactful change was closing the borders.
