Eight fire trucks and a helicopter battling large blaze on Auckland's North Shore

Eight fire trucks, 32 crews and a helicopter were called in to battle a 4 hectare blaze on Auckland's Greenhithe.

Fire and Emergency (FENZ) were called to the vegetation fire on Upper Harbour Drive in at 12:15pm on Monday.

A helicopter is at the scene and a section of  Upper Harbour Drive between Greenhithe Road and Albany Highway has been closed since 2:30pm.

"Follow directions of emergency services on site and expect some delays until this incident can be resolved," Auckland Transport posted on Twitter.

A FENZ spokesperson told Newshub the blaze is approximately 4 hectares - the size of four rugby fields.

There are currently no properties being threatened by the blaze but some residents have been asked to evacuate their homes.

Three fire trucks and a water bank have been called to another blaze in Auckland's Whenuapai District.

Fire and Emergency were alerted to the fire on Dale Road just before 4pm on Monday.

The 30 by 30 metre property is 'well involved', a FENZ spokesperson told Newshub.
