Wellington Police have seized drugs and found stolen property after carrying out a search warrant at a central city motel used for emergency accommodation.

Police confirmed the raid at a Webb St property on Wednesday morning found methamphetamine, cannabis, and stolen property. Stuff reports it is the Harbour City Motor Inn that was searched, which is a motel in Te Aro currently being used as emergency housing. Their photos show several police officers and Armed Offenders Squad members in attendance.

Newshub has contacted Harbour City Motor Inn for comment.

Police say no arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.

A resident of the motel told Stuff he is on bail and has been living at the accommodation for about three months.

"Police dropped me off here. They're here every day, about five times a day, because they have to do bail checks," he says.

"There's lots of gangs in [the motel] too. Every type of gang you can think of. That's why the cops are always here."

He alleges that inside the motel, people abuse staff and there are assaults.
