Auckland motorcyclist who failed to stop for police involved in serious car crash

An Auckland motorcyclist who failed to stop for police on Thursday night has been seriously injured in a crash.

Insp Jason Homan said a police unit signalled the motorcycle to stop around 8:25pm on Mt Wellington Highway.

The motorcyclist failed to stop and the police officers deactivated their lights and decided not to pursue.

"A short time later the police unit located the motorcycle which had been involved in a collision with a car.

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital in a serious condition, there were no other injuries."

The serious crash unit attended the scene on Thursday night and police are investigating.
