There are four positive COVID-19 cases in MIQ on Sunday and none in the community.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the total number of active cases in New Zealand is 102.

Three previously reported cases have now recovered.

The four imported cases come from Kenya, Pakistan and Lebanon via United Arab Emirates.

There was just one case in managed isolation reported in the Ministry of Health's latest release on Friday.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from COVID-19 around the world has hit a grim milestone of 3 million as countries such as India and Brazil are fighting their second wave.

The trans-Tasman bubble officially commences on Monday, April 19.

Travellers from Australia will be able to bypass two weeks in a MIQ facility - mandatory for international travellers - and won't have to quarantine on the way back.

The Ministry of Health urges Kiwis to continue scanning and keeping a record of where they've been.

"As quarantine-free travel begins overnight tonight, it's a timely reminder that people who visit New Zealand as part of quarantine free travel will be able to download the NZ COVID Tracer app - there are no restrictions," MoH wrote in a statement.

"We recommend people continue to scan NZ COVID Tracer app. The more we all scan, the safer we'll all be."
