New Zealand has recorded six new cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation (MIQ) on Sunday, and none in the community.

The six cases were all detected in MIQ facilities in Auckland.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said New Zealand's total confirmed COVID-19 cases are 2312 - 27 of which are active but all in MIQ.

"The seven-day rolling average of new cases detected at the border is three," said a ministry spokesman. "Two previously reported cases have now recovered."

Meanwhile, recent weak positive COVID-19 test results in Christchurch wastewater have now returned negative.

While there have been recent weak positive wastewater tests in Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua, and Queenstown, the ministry maintains they're likely from recent positive cases in MIQ continuing to shed the virus after returning home.

"There is no risk of infection from COVID-19 in wastewater," the spokesman said.
