Ex-Number One Shoes employee who performed lewd sexual acts on co-workers' shoes pleads guilty to offensive behaviour charge

A Palmerston North man has pleaded guilty to charges of offensive behaviour and theft after he allegedly stole, sniffed, spat and ejaculated in his co-workers shoes.

Malachai Wylie appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Tuesday, charged with two counts of offensive behaviour and one of theft.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges.

It's Wylie's second appearance after he was arrested and charged in April.

Newshub revealed in May Wylie had allegedly been stealing shoes from his coworkers at Number One Shoes, defiling them by spitting, or ejaculating into them and then posting pictures of the shoes on a fetish site.

While studying to be a secondary school teacher at Massey University in Palmerston North last year, Wylie also worked as a student teacher in Manawatu high schools - some girls have told Newshub they were targeted by Facebook profiles they believe Wylie was behind.

In response to the allegations, the Ministry of Education sent out a traumatic incidents team to help counsel those who may have been impacted.

Wylie will reappear in court for sentencing on 7 July.
