Homicide investigation launched after death in Auckland's Ōtāhuhu

A homicide investigation has been launched after a person died in the Auckland suburb of Ōtāhuhu during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the incident on Beatty St at about 2:15am, said Det Insp Warrick Adkin, of the Counties Manukau CIB.

The person suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. 

"We are speaking to witnesses and conducting a scene examination today," Adkin said.

"Residents in the area can expect to see a continued police presence as we work to understand the circumstances and ensure the community’s safety."

Beatty St remained cordoned off on Sunday morning. Adkin said further information will be released when it becomes available.
