A man has been arrested following a firearms incident at a property in Ōrewa, north Auckland, on Monday afternoon.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said officers conducted extensive searches on Monday and located the man at an address in Dairy Flat, a rural district in north Auckland, shortly before 9pm.

The man was apprehended without incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and charges are being considered," the spokesperson said.

"Police would like to acknowledge residents in the Ōrewa and Dairy Flat areas who may have been inconvenienced by the search activity today."

In February, a young person was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old in Ōrewa.
