Man critically injured falling from car in Mangere dies in hospital

A man who was critically injured in April after falling from a car in the south Auckland suburb of Māngere has died.

Kimleang Youn, who was also known by his nickname Heng, fell from a vehicle he was travelling in on Robertson Road around 8.30pm on Wednesday, April 28.

The vehicle involved did not stop after the incident occurred.

Det Snr Srgt Kepal Richards, from the Counties Manukau CIB, said 28-year-old Youn died as a result of his injuries in hospital at the end of last week.

"Over the weekend Police have been in the process of notifying the man's family, who reside overseas."

Richards said police are currently treating the circumstances around the incident as suspicious.

"Our enquiry team has spoken with a number of people who came to Kimleang's aid after the incident, but there are still other people we would like to hear from.

"Police are aware that some people at the scene may have been recording at the time emergency services arrived. We ask that these people come forward and contact Police."

Anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the incident, or anyone who has CCTV footage, is also asked to come forward.
