A manhunt is underway in Avondale after a man turned up to Waitakere Hospital with a gunshot wound.
At 1.20am on Thursday police say the man showed up with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was quickly taken to Auckland hospital where he remains in serious condition.
Police are searching the wider Avondale area for the shooter, and say although the investigation is in its early stages, it's not thought to be a random attack.
Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of the incident.
