Children have been injured after the school bus they were on collided with a car in Nelson's central business district.
Police say emergency services were called to the incident on Trafalgar St just before 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.
"Some children have minor injuries," a police spokesperson told Newshub.
"Detours are in place, and drivers are asked to avoid the area."
St John confirmed it attended the incident at 3:47pm, sending two vehicles and treating one patient, who was in a minor condition.
Ambulance staff remain at the scene.
