A woman has died following a 'significant' house fire in Waihi on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the fire at a property on Queen Street around 10:40am.
Acting Det Snr Sgt Scott Neilson said a 63-year-old female had died following the fire.
"Police are currently speaking to witnesses and completing a scene examination to determine the circumstances around the death," he said.
A spokesperson for Fire and Emergency said two fire trucks responded to the fire, which was well involved when they arrived.
