A person has critical burn injuries after a car caught fire on a Wellington motorway.
Emergency services are currently at the scene of the single-car crash on the southbound Centennial Highway under the Newlands Bridge over-ramp.
Police say they were told about the crash at 4:45pm on Sunday.
"One southbound lane is still operating however this incident will cause considerable delays and motorists are asked to take alternate routes," a spokesperson says.
Fire and Emergency says crews have extinguished the car fire.
The injured person has since been taken to Auckland's Middlemore Hospital.
