A three-week-old baby girl is continuing to fight for her life in Auckland's Starship Hospital after receiving critical injuries in Hamilton.

In an update on Sunday, police said the girl remains in a critical condition after it was revealed on Saturday she had sustained "unexplained" injuries earlier this week.

A police spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.

Oranga Tamariki is working with police to establish the cause of the girl's injuries, Det Snr Sgt Andrew Saunders said on Saturday.

"A scene examination has been completed at the Hamilton property where the baby and her parents live," he said, adding further updates would be provided when available.
