Pram hit-and-run: Upper Hutt baby injured after stroller struck by car, driver flees scene

A baby has suffered minor injuries after a stroller was struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Upper Hutt.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Fergusson Dr, Clouston Park about 9:30am on Tuesday, a police statement said.

It's believed the pram was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing, according to police.

"The driver of the vehicle left the scene prior to police arrival, and we would like to speak to them, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident," the statement said. "The vehicle involved is described as a later-model white station wagon."

Police said an investigation is underway and anyone with information is urged to contact 105, quoting event number P046395574.

"Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously by calling CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111."
