One new case of COVID-19 has been recorded in managed isolation facilities over the past 24 hours, but the community remains free of the virus.

The new arrival tested positive four days into their stay in a managed isolation facility after arriving in New Zealand on June 8. They had travelled from India and transited in Qatar.

In its update on Monday, the Ministry of Health confirmed one person has recovered from the virus, meaning there are now 27 active cases in New Zealand - all of which were detected at the border.

To date, New Zealand has recorded 2353 cases of COVID-19. Since January 1, 2021, 537 people have tested positive on our shores - however, 74 have since been classified as historical infections, meaning they were recovered and not infectious at the time of their test.

Two of the active cases continue to receive treatment at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital after being transferred from the Jet Park quarantine facility last week. Both patients are in a stable condition.

The patients were taken to hospital safely using strict infection prevention and control measures, the ministry reiterated.

For privacy reasons, no further details about these patients and their care will be released.

Quarantine-free travel pause

The ongoing suspension of quarantine-free travel with the state of Victoria will continue until Thursday, subject to a review of the circumstances on Wednesday.

Those who are eligible can continue to return to New Zealand on "green flights". These people will not be required to isolate when they arrive home - however, they must provide evidence of a negative test within three days of their departure. A PCR test is strongly preferred.

All passengers travelling on a return green flight must also complete the Nau Mai Râ contact information and complete the health declaration to confirm they have not visited a location of interest.

Travellers who are not covered by the restrictions in Victoria - and who have not visited a location of interest at the specified times - can still travel quarantine-free from other states and will not require a pre-departure test. All travellers to New Zealand are encouraged to use the NZ COVID-19 Tracer app, stay put if they are sick, and to wear a mask on all flights and public transport.

Locations of interest in VIC, QLD and NSW

Health authorities in Australia are continuing to identify locations of interest connected to the current outbreak in the state of Victoria.

The ministry is urging New Zealanders who have recently been in regional New South Wales (NSW) or regional Queensland to remain alert for updates as authorities continue to map out the movements of infectious people.

Anyone in New Zealand who was in regional NSW between June 1-5, or regional Queensland between June 5-8, is urged to check the following websites to determine whether they visited any of the locations of interest at the specified times:

Anyone who was at a location of interest at the specified time should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453, get tested, and self-isolate until a negative result is returned.

Anyone who was at a location of interest at the specified times cannot travel to New Zealand within 14 days of the exposure event.

Testing information

The total number of tests processed by laboratories to date is 2,197,446. On Sunday, 2163 tests were completed.

For all testing locations nationwide, visit the Healthpoint website.

This testing data does not include the number of tests processed by Waikato DHB as its systems remain down following a cyber attack. The data continues to be recorded manually and will be added to the tally once the systems have been restored. So far, the manual data is showing an average of around 200 tests processed per day since May 17.
