Eleven Hells Angels gangsters arrested after assaults on 14 people in Rotorua

Eleven gangsters have been arrested by police following assaults "on several innocent members of the public in Rotorua last month". 

According to police, 14 members of the public were assaulted on May 22 outside a bar on Arawa St, Rotorua. Two people suffered serious injuries. 

Search warrants were carried out on Tuesday morning in Waitematā and Whanganui and 11 men - all Hells Angels gang members ranging in age from 27 to 57 - are now facing a range of charges including rioting, wounding with intent, and assault with intent.

"This was a frightening attack on innocent members of our community," says Detective Sergeant Caroline Wharton.

"The arrests today send a clear message that Police are committed to holding these offenders to account. Police would like to thank the public for information provided following an appeal after the May 22 incident."
