An Auckland photographer has spotted a very Kiwi shape in the snow on his way up Queenstown's The Remarkables.

Logan Smith shared a photo of the snow resembling the shape of New Zealand, which he captured during a sightseeing trip on Monday.

"Shooting up in the Remarkables today and this patch of snow caught my eye... #nz," he wrote on Facebook.

Smith said he thought he was imagining it at first.

"I was actually photographing a little waterfall literally next to it and just looked over to the left and saw it, and couldn't believe my eyes," he told Newshub.

He and his partner were amazed by what they saw, Smith said.

"In terms of just sheer coincidence, this is definitely the coolest thing I've seen.

"New Zealand always surprises you with the things that it creates when you go out and look at our backyard - it was stunning."
