A search and rescue mission has found a group, including two young boys, who went missing in Wairarapa during a four-wheel-drive trip.

The group had left Masterton about midday on Sunday and were reported missing around 9:30pm when they hadn't returned, a police spokesperson said.

It is unclear where they were intending to travel to. Police conducted a search overnight but they remain missing.

"Fresh information gained this morning suggested the group may be in the Aorangi Forest Park area," the spokesperson said on Monday.

"A helicopter was deployed this morning and the four-wheel-drive vehicle was located near Sutherlands Hut."

Just after 11am the group was located at Waikuku Lodge on Haurangi Road.

"Police thank members of the public for their assistance."

Friends and family of the missing group had posted to social media confirming the missing was father Brandon Gill, his children aged three and one, and his friend Keanu Piripi.
