An incident involving a "suspicious vehicle" that closed a Timaru street and forced an evacuation of residents has now been resolved, police say.
Precautionary cordons on Sefton St East have now been removed.
"Enquiries into the matter are ongoing and police will be speaking with a person of interest," a police statement said.
Police responded to the report about 12:09pm and homes were evacuated as a precaution.
