Christchurch school student hospitalised after collapsing, vomiting from smoking synthetic cannabis

A Christchurch school student has been hospitalised after smoking synthetic cannabis.

The Hornby High School pupil collapsed and was vomiting after consuming the substance before being taken to hospital by ambulance on Wednesday, Newshub has been told.

The school confirmed a "small group" of students smoked the synthetic cannabis on school grounds.

"As a result of this incident appropriate action was taken to ensure the safety of all students at school."

The student is now recovering at home and the matter has been referred to the police.
