One person is critically injured and Auckland commuters are being warned a full road closure is likely after a serious crash in West Harbour on Friday.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash between a motorcyclist and a car on Hobsonville Road. Police were alerted to the crash at 1:55pm.

Police say one person is critically injured and cordons are in place.

Auckland Transport is urging people to avoid the area and expect delays, including to bus services. It says a full road closure is likely.

Several school buses have been diverted and four stops will be missed.

"Due to the Hobsonville Road closure, school buses 001 and 050 and Metro buses 114 and 120 are detoured via Fitzherbert Avenue and Cyril Crescent," Auckland Transport tweeted.

"Stops 5826 and 5817 at 22 and 45 Hobsonville Road will be missed, please use stops 5807 or 5824 at 25 or opposite 27 Hobsonville Road."

The serious crash unit has been advised.
