Seven recent returnees have been confirmed as COVID-positive in the past 24 hours, but New Zealand remains free of community cases.

There are currently 39 active cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand, all of whom are new arrivals who tested positive at the border.

The first of the seven new cases arrived on June 25 from Cambodia via Singapore. They are a contact of a previously reported case and tested positive eight days into their mandatory 14-day managed isolation period.

The second and third cases arrived on June 30 and returned positive results due to routine testing on day three of their respective stays. Both transited in Singapore, however their full travel histories remain unclear.

The fourth arrived on July 2 from Bahrain via the UAE and tested positive on arrival.

The fifth travelled from India with a stop in Qatar and touched down in New Zealand on July 3. They also tested positive on arrival.

The sixth and seventh cases travelled together and arrived on July 3. Their location of departure is yet to be determined, however the two transited in Singapore. Both tested positive on the first day of their managed isolation.

All seven people are quarantining in Auckland.

Since January 1, 2021, 586 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in New Zealand - 80 of which have been reclassified as historical infections.

Australian traveller who visited Wellington

So far, 2726 people have been identified as contacts of the Australian traveller who visited Wellington between June 19-21 and later tested positive for COVID-19 on their return to Sydney.

Of those 2726 contacts, 2670 - or 98 percent - of people have returned an initial negative result, an increase of 21 negative results since Sunday.

Thirty-three people have been granted a clinical exemption and 22 require no further action.

The remaining person is being actively followed up by contact tracing teams.

"We'd like to remind all New Zealanders that anyone who is symptomatic should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice on testing," a Ministry of Health spokesperson said in Monday's update.

Testing

The total number of tests processed by laboratories to date is 2,317,171. On Sunday, 3140 tests were processed across New Zealand.

For all testing locations nationwide, visit the Healthpoint website.

This testing data does not include the number of tests processed by the Waikato DHB, as its systems remain down following a cyber attack. The data continues to be recorded manually and monitored. The data will be added to the tally once systems have been restored.

The manual data shows Waikato has this week been processing about 300 tests a day.
