Man charged for allegedly attacking multiple police cars, resisting arrest in Queenstown

An 18-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly damaged multiple police cars by jumping on them in Queenstown at the weekend.

The man was charged with eight counts of intentional damage and one of resisting arrest.

A police spokesperson told Newshub he was due to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.

"A number of vehicles were damaged at Queenstown police station yesterday morning [Sunday].

"The man allegedly jumped on and damaged eight vehicles, including six police vehicles, before he was taken into custody at the scene around 3:20am.

"Replacement vehicles are being arranged for the cars requiring repair."

Police could not add further details as the matter was before the court.
