One person has died after a car crashed into a canal near Methven on Saturday, with police continuing to search for the driver.
Emergency services responded to reports that a car had gone into the canal, off Pudding Hill Road, shortly after 1am.
The car has since been recovered from the water and the body of the passenger was found inside. However, the driver remains missing.
"The driver has not been located and remains outstanding," police said.
The Police National Dive Squad has been deployed and will continue the search for the driver.
A formal identification process is underway to identify the deceased and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing, police said.
