Tractors return to central Auckland for special delivery

Tractors have returned to the streets of central Auckland as farmers made a special delivery on Tuesday morning.

Less than two weeks ago farmers descended on more than 50 towns and cities around New Zealand to voice their outrage over the Government's rules over freshwater, significant natural areas, indigenous biodiversity and the so-called 'ute tax'.

Pukekohe to Auckland organiser of the 'Howl of a Protest' Scott Bright told Newshub a grower's initiative was heading into Auckland city on Tuesday morning to deliver two tonnes of fresh produce to the Auckland City Mission.

He said they have tonnes of vegetables and it was great to give back and "build community".

Large tractors brandishing New Zealand flags and signs including one that read: "Don't bite the hands that feed you" were seen taking the motorway's Khyber Pass off ramp.

A spokesperson for the Mission said they were "grateful" for the delivery.
