The car continued through the CBD area, and travelled back onto State Highway 16 westbound, exiting the motorway at Te Atatu by doing a U-Turn and driving the wrong way along Te Atatu Road towards Henderson.

The car was badly damage in the chase and was being driven on its rims. Photos show several of the tyres are completely rubber free.

It was eventually abandoned on Riverglade Parkway where seven offenders ran from the car.
