New Zealand has recorded two new cases of COVID-19 in managed isolation on Wednesday and two new historical cases.

The Ministry of Health confirmed there are also no new community cases.

The new MIQ cases are recent returnees.

One case arrived in New Zealand on July 28 from Ghana via the United Arab Emirates. They tested positive for coronavirus during day 12 of their stay in an Auckland MIQ facility.

The second new border case arrived on July 30 from the United Kingdom and tested positive on day two.

New Zealand's two historical cases were identified at the border.

The first case arrived in New Zealand on July 18 on a direct flight from the United States. They were staying in a Christchurch MIQ facility when they tested positive on day 12.

The second case was also staying in Christchurch after arriving in the country from Serbia via the United Arab Emirates on July 28. They tested positive on day three.

Two previously reported cases from Monday have since been classified as "under investigation" and have been removed from the tally of confirmed cases.

Three previously reported cases have also recovered, bringing our number of active cases to 29.

According to the Ministry of Health, our total number of confirmed cases is 2523.

Australia

New Zealand's quarantine-free travel bubble with Australia remains suspended as the country grapples with a COVID-19 outbreak. New South Wales reported 233 new local cases on Wednesday.

"If people have been at a location of interest at the relevant time, they should immediately isolate at home or appropriate accommodation and call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice on testing," the Ministry of Health said.

Contact tracing staff have also identified 2995 people who returned to New Zealand on managed flights from Victoria between July 25 and 30 and have been required under a section 70 notice to isolate until a negative day three test.

"This number has reduced by two from Tuesday, as people have been contacted and their travel history amended. Of those 2611 have so far returned a negative test and the remainder are currently being assessed for follow-up."
