Man in a digger takes on Huntly boy racers, damaging several cars at 'anti-social' gathering

A frustrated Waikato man took matters into his own hands during a boy racer meet-up over the weekend, jumping into a digger and attempting to ram their cars.

The incident, which occurred on Rotowaro Rd in Huntly late on Friday night, was filmed and posted to social media with the caption "i hope everyone allgoods (sic)".

The footage shows the digger dropping its bucket and scraping it along the ground in the direction of a souped-up vehicle as attendees yell at him to stop.

"Yo!" one man can be heard yelling. "F**k off c**t!"

Moments later, people can be seen fleeing from the digger in cars and on foot, with one person yelling at others to get away from the scene.

While it's not clear in the video if the digger ever made contact with any cars, police confirmed to Newshub that he damaged a "small number of vehicles".

"Police attended reports made late on Friday evening of disorder on Rotowaro Road, Huntly, where a number of anti-social road users were gathered," a spokesperson said.

"Police … are working to gather more information to help determine what occurred.

"We urge anyone who notices activity that concerns them to contact police straight away, rather than taking actions which might put themselves and others at risk."

While the police weren't impressed, comments on the social media post appeared to mostly be in support of the digger driver's unorthodox attempts to restore order on Huntly's streets.

"This group is dangerous and reckless. They cause so much damage to the area. The police do nothing because there is to many cars (sic). This is true Huntly justice and I love it!!! This GC is a legend make him the mayor!!" wrote one.

"Do you get the idea that people living in the area are sick of you keeping their kids awake or waking them up," said another.

"Top man got the balls that every one from the Waikato wants to do," wrote a third.
