Man in custody after staff member assaulted in broad daylight at Papatoetoe store

A staff member at a store in the south Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe is in hospital after a man allegedly walked into the shop and assaulted them in broad daylight.

A police spokesperson told Newshub a man has been arrested after allegedly entering the store on Bairds Rd and assaulting the staffer.

"Police responded following a report at 10:20am," the spokesperson said. "The offender was located by officers a short time later on Bairds Rd and arrested."

The victim has been hospitalised in a moderate condition.

"Police remain on the scene making enquiries to establish what has happened, however, no one else is being sought in relation to the incident," the spokesperson said.
