Two injured after physical altercation at south Auckland intersection

Two men have been injured after a physical altercation in south Auckland.

Police were called to the incident at the intersection of Fort Richard Rd and Great South Rd in Otahuhu at 1:25pm on Saturday. 

The incident is understood to have been a physical altercation between two men known to each other. Police found the two injured males in a vehicle.

"They were both transported to Auckland Hospital by ambulance – one in a serious condition and one in a minor condition," says Detective Inspector Chris Barry of Counties Manukau Police. "The man in a serious condition is undergoing surgery this afternoon."

"Two further males presented themselves at Middlemore Hospital and are being treated for injuries which Police believe eventuated from the same incident."

No arrests have bveen made "a large number of Police are in the Fort Richard Road and Sturges Park area speaking to people and conducting inquiries into the incident".

"Police would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident."

Police say there is nothing to suggest the incident is linked to recent gang tensions in the area.
