Fire and Emergency attended a number of fires across the North Island overnight.

Around 9:20pm five crews were dispatched to fight a blaze at an equipment workshop on Kirkwood Rd in Flaxmere, Hastings.

"[We]arrived to the building fully engulfed," a spokesperson said.

It was extinguished by 10pm.

A barn used for accommodation also went up in flames this morning in Auckland's Rodney District. Fire and Emergency found the Waitoki property well-ablaze when they arrived just after midnight.

It is used as accommodation, but all people evacuated without injury. The fire has since been extinguished and an investigator will attend later on Saturday morning.

And a large blaze at an industrial building on Watson St, Bulls - near Palmerston North - kept firefighters busy in the early house. They were called just after 3am. By 6am it was largely out.
