Te Ariki Poulgrain, the dangerous prisoner linked to the Killer Beez gang who escaped custody in June, has been arrested after months on the run.
The 23-year-old was at a medical facility in the Auckland suburb of Grafton for an appointment on the afternoon of June 30 when he escaped Corrections' custody.
The man, who police said at the time should be "considered dangerous", "not be approached" and had links to the Killer Beez gang, was arrested at an Otara address on Saturday.
Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe said Poulgrain will "face a charge of escapes custody and is expected to appear in Auckland District Court via AVL on Monday 13 September 2021".
Poulgrain was one of the inmates at Auckland's Paremoremo Prison who in 2018 shanked murderer Graeme Burton. He was sentenced to three years and nine month' imprisonment for his part in the attack.
