Two people have died and another is in serious condition after a crash in Waikato on Thursday morning.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the scene at Waikeria, northeast of Ōtorohanga, just after 4:45am.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Wharepuhunga Road and Lawry Road.
"The driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles died at the scene," the spokesperson said.
"A third person in that vehicle was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition."
The driver of the second vehicle also received minor to moderate injuries.
The circumstances of the crash are currently under investigation.
