3.9-magnitude earthquake jolts parts of North Island

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake has jolted parts of the North Island, according to GeoNet.

The quake happened 20km west of Pōrangahau, southern Hawke's Bay at 12:16pm on Wednesday, at a depth of 22km.

More than 100 people reported feeling the quake, the majority saying it was "weak" or "light".

GeoNet said the quake may have been felt in areas including Dannevirke, Feilding, Hastings, Levin and Masterton.
