Arrest made after man filmed climbing down high-rise Auckland apartment building in alleged bail breach

An arrest has been made after a man was filmed climbing down a central Auckland apartment building on Monday, allegedly attempting to breach his electronically monitored bail.

Emergency services were called about 2pm, after multiple reports a man was climbing down the outside of the high-rise Barclay Suites building on Albert St.

Video posted on social media platform TikTok shows the man scaling the building on about the 10th floor - hanging on to a balcony as he attempts to descend.

"Police received multiple reports of a person climbing down the outside of a building on Albert Street at around 2pm on Monday," a spokesperson said. "Police attended and arrested a 34-year-old man for breaching his EM [electronically monitored] bail."

The video of the alleged breach has more than 308,000 views on TikTok.

"Are they wearing a Spiderman mask?!?" one amused commenter asked.

"This needs the Mission Impossible theme song," another said.
