A man has been charged with murder after police found another man dead at a house in Ōmāpere.
Detective Inspector Rhys Johnston says a 48-year-old man is due to appear in Whangārei District Court on Saturday.
The man has been in custody in hospital since his arrest on Friday.
Police found the 73-year-old man dead at a Ōmāpere address in Northland just before midday yesterday.
The investigation into the homicide continues.
