A man is in hospital in a serious condition after being shot in the Auckland suburb of Avondale.
Police were called at about 4:30am to Saintly Lane after reports of a firearm going off. They found a man with a gunshot wound, who was taken to hospital.
The street has been cordoned off, and police say they are seeking a person of interest.
In the meantime, residents have been urged to stay in their homes.
