A police investigation is underway after the death of a newborn baby in Christchurch.
Emergency services were notified of the death at a residential address about 8pm on Saturday, a police spokesperson says.
An investigation has commenced at the address, believed to be in the suburb of Spreydon.
"A post mortem and scene examinations will be carried out today," the spokesperson said on Sunday.
Police weren't in a position to comment further as the investigation was in its early stages, the spokesperson said.
