State Highway 1 is closed in both directions just north of Pokeno after a truck rolled just before midday on Friday, killing one person.
The single-vehicle incident was reported at 11:40am, police said. The southbound truck reportedly rolled and caught fire near the Beaver Rd off-ramp.
SH1 is closed between Mill Rd and Nikau Rd.
"It is anticipated that southbound lanes will be closed for a longer period of time as the serious crash unit will be examining the scene," police said, advising motorists of likely delays.
"Southbound traffic is being diverted at the Bombay Hill off-ramp."
