A person has died after a truck rolled and went up in flames on State Highway 1 between Invercargill and Bluff.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said there were initially two fire engines at the scene and the blaze was well involved.
A police statement said emergency services were called to the scene on the Bluff Highway at Greenhills just before 3:30am.
"As a result, the road is blocked and expected to be closed for some hours today.
"There is no alternate route.
"Updates will be provided when available."
