Wellington Police appeal for information following violent robbery at Waitangi Park

Wellington police are appealing for information following a group robbery on Sunday night at Waitangi Park. 

Two 16-year-olds were approached at 10:30pm by a group of four young males, one man holding a claw hammer demanding the victim's hand over their property. 

The 16-year-old gave his phone and wallet but was then struck in the face with the hammer before he was kicked and punched by the same male. 

Soon after the offender's associates joined in on the attack, kicking the victim further while he was on the ground before they ran off towards the city centre. 

The 16-year old boy was taken to hospital where he was treated for bruising and a cut to his face. 

The victim describes the main offender as in his late teens to 20 years old, he was wearing a black face mask and a blue hoodie, he was skinny and about 5'10 in height.
