Comancheros gang members facing charges after 'serious assault' in west Auckland

Five gang members have been charged following what police are calling a "serious assault" in west Auckland.

Aged between 18 and 24, all are members of the Comancheros gang, said Det Insp Kevin McNaughton.

The alleged attack took place on Wednesday on Virgo Pl in Glen Eden, he said, and the victim is in hospital in a critical condition.

The gang members have been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

"Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident and we are unable to rule out further charges being laid," said McNaughton.

The five will appear in Waitakere District Court on Thursday.
