New Lynn homicide: No arrests made but police turning to CCTV footage as investigation progresses

Police are yet to make any arrests but have turned to CCTV footage for answers as the New Lynn homicide investigation continues.

The investigation was launched after a person died in the west Auckland suburb on Friday following reports of gunshots.

Police have cordoned off a section of Cliff View Rd in Green Bay where they're conducting enquiries at addresses within that area, with support from members of the Armed Offenders Squad.

"No arrests were made at this location, however there will still be a Police presence in the area as our enquiries continue," says Detective Inspector Kevin McNaughton of the Waitematā CIB.

"Police will be examining CCTV footage as part of our enquiries as well as conducting area canvases."

McNaughton said when police arrived they found an injured person in the driveway of an address.

Waitematā CIB have put together a team to piece together exactly what occurred in New Lynn on Friday morning.

Police say numerous enquiries are currently underway, and the scene examination on Great North Rd is also continuing.

Residents in the New Lynn and Green Bay areas should have noticed an increased Police presence following the incident, Det Insp McNaughton says.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the incident or any suspicious activity at the time to come forward.
